Review of The Black Hole (1979) by Thalie L — 24 Jul 2006
Much better than people think, The Black Hole works on its own surrealistic sci-fi level. Suspension of disbelief is required and yet the movie still works in my opinion. Plus there is an excellent musical score which is creepy where appropriate as well as uplifting at the right times.
The hulking robot devil Maximillian in particular is Scary, Vincent the Robot is the hero of the movie while the humans play their own little dramatic roles very well in the backgrounds. Good movie with one hell of a strange yet fascinating ending.
