Review of The Black Hole (1979) by Chris E — 24 Jan 2013
It has no real story line to speak of, and the silly robots are a shameless Star Wars ripoff. In addition, the John Barry score does get a little bit noisy after a while. Magnificent art direction, cinematography, and special effects, however, redeem the movie for me.
The Cygnus looks great floating in dark, blue space. The meteor field sequence is still phenomenal to watch. And those vector graphics in the opening title sequence are just TOO COOL. The film bursts and brims with inspired visuals.
