Review of The Black Hole (1979) by David F — 28 May 2011
Half-baked attempt by Disney to capitalize on the recent success of the Star Wars phenomenon falls flat on its face. Essentially a re-tread of the studio's much superior '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea', the story revolves around a group of intrepid space explorers captured by a mad genius (Schell, who certainly looks the part) obsessed with penetrating the secrets of the gravitational singularity in question.
Sub-par visual effects and a cast that should have been boffo in a film made twenty years earlier sink the entire affair into a void of mediocrity.
