Review of The Black Hole (1979) by Scott C — 11 Oct 2015
Despite the fact that this is one of the darkest Disney films I've ever seen. Despite the amazing surreal ending visuals. Despite the action and scifi elements of the film... I just can't get past the dorky comedic relief robots and how dumb down they make the rest of the picture seem. Makes the film, which is essentially a haunted house meets mad scientist film while in space, seem hoaky.
Luckily the FX, cinematography and set design are absolutely fantastic. So if you can get past the melodrama and the dorky robots, Black Hole is a fantastic piece of scifi filmmaking.
