Review of The Black Balloon (2008) by Maria B — 08 Feb 2009
An excellent Aussie movie. It's a gentle tale, treated well, a mixture of laughs and tears. It's not a chick flick; everyone should enjoy it. The actor playing the autistic boy is so good that you'd swear he was genuinely autistic, and the other characters are all believable too.
That's probably because the director has personal experience of the situation, with two autistic brothers herself (check out the interview in the Extras).
