Review of The Bishop's Wife (1947) by Jennifer E — 02 Dec 2007
This is my favorite holiday movie.
Jimmy Stewart's life may be wonderful but it doesn't compare to Cary Crant as an angel who hasn't lost his taste for life.
David Niven's great sense of comedic timing ensures you smile again and again. There are GREAT supporting roles through out the film, but Cary and David aside, Loretta Young plays her role to perfection. Her charachter is loyal, angry, and at odds with her "perfect life." She is the vehichle on which we rely to cary us forward and she provides the momentum needed without once up staging the storyline.
This is a film worth seeing at anytime of year.
