Review of The Bishop's Wife (1947) by Sums I — 17 Dec 2011
Another great Christmas classic with stronger religious overtones than many other "Christmas" films. I enjoyed it, and appreciated the very real bishop and his struggles. We are all human, even those in positions of leading the flock.
Cary Grant makes an agreeable, charming angel and Loretta Young is full of old-school beauty and grace. It's a beautiful film, with a touching Christmas message. It leaves me with the wonder that perhaps we have had divine intervention in our own lives and don't even realize it.
Add it to your yearly Christmas list!
