Nate Parker attempts an enormous feat in his directorial debut, but unfortunately he doesn't fit all the right notes with its muddled narrative and it's attempt to fit so much that it leads to a lack of depth.
That being said, The Birth of a Nation powers on with its incredible acting, stunning imagery, and an emotional ending that leaves the audience with a powerful sting.
