Review of The Birth of a Nation (2016) by Michael S — 27 Sep 2017
"Birth of a Nation" | D | Heavy-handed, clunky and amateurish direction expose Hollywood's desperate rush to find an Oscar-worthy film from African American filmmakers. This is definitely not the one.
A few solid acting performances (Aja Naomi King / Penelope Ann Miller) are overshadowed by many sub par performances. Completely overrated, irresponsible orgy of violence. Sundance voters should be ashamed of themselves.
