Yes, in spite of the controversy surrounding allegations of rape, I watched the film. In a year marked by troubling racial issues, #BLM and #OscarSoWhite, and as an aspiring history teacher, I couldn't justify skipping it.
And I am glad a saw it. The early parts of the film showing his conversion from motivational preacher to rebel leader were pretty compelling. But the actual rebellion was a bit rushed and awkwardly filmed.
Plus the female characters were underdeveloped. Almost a great movie, still a good one.
