Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Tim C — 02 Aug 2009
I find this film as a surreal trip. Maybe in 1915 this was not but now in 2009, Ninety-Six years after The Birth of A Nation it seems way to politically incorrect for me, sometimes in a good way. The last 30 minutes of this film are, well, a history of this country a lot wish never really happened, nor was ever relevant at any time line.
I like Birth, don't get me wrong. I recommend but I do advise that if you hate "long" movies or "silent crappy" movies you shouldn't call yourself anything more than a film goer and nothing close to a "buff" and totally skip this one.
Along with Intolerance this is the "birth" of Cinema as we know it, then and now.
