Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Thom M — 09 Oct 2010
Wow, this film is actually really good for being almost 100 years old. What surprised me the most was the directing; being able to direct so many people in such a short time (Apparently, it only took Griffith a week to do his movies), shooting in Hollywood for the first time, and being able to do what he did.
This is one of those movies that I wish were in color and had sound, but then again, the acting was so good it didn't even need sound. I will say I got frustrated every now and then simply because it is too long, but it is an amazing movie.
