Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Luke A — 10 Apr 2014
The truth hurts. Plus its just a well made film, even with today's standards. Completely baffles me that filmmakers haven't made more like this (slavery, southern oppression etc.) Mind boggling that 100 years later, another major movie was made about the slavery days.
.. Maybe its what makes this movie great, I don't know. Really wish more movies would model themselves off of the honesty this movie contains, really a shame we have to put up with sentimental bullshit that has plagued American cinema.
