Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by William M — 02 Apr 2006
Only three star and five votes? Why? Yes it's KKK propaganda, but it is also a fantastic piece of cinema. What? Do you think Coppola just dreampt up the Doo-Long beach helicopter attack in Apocalypse Now on his own.
Filmmakers owe so much to Griffith for his development of parallel editing techniques. I think this is a cracking film.
