Review of The Birdcage (1996) by Martin H — 23 Aug 2014
Williams at one of his finest and Nathan Lane at his very best. Lane deserved Oscar for Best Actor. Again the Academy was off kilter.
It's all a part of the modern scheme of things and how life has gotten so serious that anything that makes us laugh is considered unworthy of the miserable, superficial world in which we live.
And I'm a long time optimist seguing into pessimism after 66 years of laughing my way in this world.
Of course, no one touches or looks directly into each other's eyes or holds hands anymore.
Read "The Medium is the Message".and you may wonder why people marry anymore......perhaps it's because they rarely see each other as we have indeed entered Toffler's Third Wave.
I think I would rather die from pollution than from "Marasmus Death"..
We must be careful and use our beloved computers and smart phones with care. They are useful in many ways...remembering to pay bills, financials, but making friends virtually is just that.
No one will cry or even be at your funeral/cremation if you continue to abuse this amazing technology we have been given.
Respect it and then leave the rest to the actually 5 senses with which we were born. And "sight" on the Internet is not seeing. Sorry, but it's difficult to see a person's soul through a computer screen..
