Review of The Birdcage (1996) by Jake A — 30 Dec 2016
I really like this. I'm not blind to its flaws, like, for instance, the fact that the characters are a little one-dimensional, and some of the most stereotypical gay guys you're ever likely to see in a post-1970s movie. But, I don't care very much. The movie's so much fun that only the most pedantic idiot would let these ruin it. It is, after all, just meant to be a frothy, fun comedy.
Robin Williams and company are just great, rattling through a truly funny script and obviously having a ball doing it. I think that even if you were absolutely determined to dislike this movie, it would still be nigh impossible.
