Review of The Big Trail (1930) by Russell G — 01 Jun 2008
Clunky in plot and acting. The "Grandeur" version (widescreen, in 1930?!?!) is staggering in scope though, and hard not to be dazzled with. The technique of the film plays very modern in compostiion, and no computer in the world will match scenes of 20,000 odd extras crossing a plain in covered wagons, shot across 4700 miles of open range.
They really don't make movies like this anymore. recommended.
