Review of The Big Trail (1930) by Jason C — 03 Sep 2009
I've never really understood the appeal of John Wayne. That being said, this is a solid early western. Strangley I kept thinking of Werner Herzog while watching it. I think because of the reality of some of the scene, particularly one where the wagon train has to be lowered down a cliff and it was clearly done for real.
Pretty cool, and makes one realize how lame modern CG effects are.
