Review of The Big Sleep (1946) by Courtney G — 11 Mar 2012
With its legendarily inscrutable plot, this worked best for me as a series of anecdotes; from scene to scene it is riveting, but the arc of it was hard to buy. I didn't believe in the love Marlowe professes for Bacall, and this is why he delves far deeper into her case than reason would suggest was neccessary.
