Review of The Big Sick (2017) by Jon S — 04 Feb 2018
Nanjiani gives a likeable performance. The humor is on the muted end of the Judd Apatow trademark spectrum and it generally works well in service of the story. Unfortunately that story is a clichéd clash-of-cultures dramedy that is by turns smarmy, self-important, predictable and boring.
One of the year's most critically overrated films.
