Review of The Big Sick (2017) by Robert R — 14 Aug 2017
The phrase "art imitating life" has almost never been applied so literally in any movie I've seen in recent memory, for real life subjects and screenplay co-writers Emily V. Gordon and Kumail Nanjiani successfully spin a yarn that's not only uniquely and undeniably their own, but one that's earnest, warm, heartfelt, and uncommonly funny.
Major props also go to the sure-handed direction from Michael Showalter and some memorable supporting turns from both Holly Hunter and Ray Romano.
