Review of The Big Short (2015) by Matthew S — 26 Mar 2016
This surprisingly well constructed dramatization of the key events leading to the downfall of the US economy and the ensuing GFC almost 10 years ago is a lot of fun. This is quite an achievement given how dense and grim the real life story actually is.
The standout performer from a solid ensemble is Steve Carell, who now has two excellent serious roles under his belt, as the guy who doesn't want to believe what's happening but has to - and bets - along with Christian Bale's socially inept stock analyst - against the US economy.
