Review of The Big Short (2015) by Deepak M — 17 Mar 2016
When my daughter grows up and asks me how the Great Recession of 2008 happened, and why most "serious people" didn't see it coming, I will ask her to watch this movie. I have read the eponymous book by Michael Lewis which does a fairly good job, but this film goes one step further to demystify to lay people how messed up the US financial system was then, and still continues to be.
Short cameos by Margot Robbie, Anthony Bourdain and Selena Gomez to do some of the demystification were as funny as they were necessary. Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling have really excelled in their roles.
This film is a must watch, and it does not require knowledge of finance.
