Review of The Big Kahuna (1999) by Edith N — 16 Nov 2012
Wow, I just sat through a movie practically set only in one room. It's a cynical and insightful movie but still very clever. It's not filmed with any slickness in mind, but that doesn't detract from a very engaging script.
It's obviously been adapted for film from a theatre play. Kevin Spacey is the spark in this with his tired wit, but for me Danny DiVito was the star with his excellent laid back performance. If i'm going to be going away on business with anybody, that is the kind of guy i'd choose to do it with.
His reprimand to the kid at the end of the film as to what defines character in a person, should be up there with one of the greatest pieces of dialogue. It was my favorite part of the film.
