Review of The Big Heat (1953) by Nicolas A — 31 Jan 2009
Classic Fritz Lang crime drama has Glenn Ford as a cop hell-bent on tracking down the mobsters who killed his wife.
The real standouts here are Lee Marvin as psycho Vince Stone and Gloria Grahame as his well-meaning but not-so-bright girlfriend.
The scene where he scalds her face with a boiling pot of coffee still manages to shock, even by today's standards.
