Review of The Big Easy (1986) by Jack F — 10 Jun 2008
One of the hottest movies I've ever seen. The sexual chemistry between Dennis Quaid and oh-my-God-hot Ellen Barkin (she still is) is worth the rental alone, but aside from that the plot is a great modern noir-mystery.
There is also a genuine feel for the New Orleans setting, which spices things up considerably. The supporting cast is extremely strong. Charles Ludlam, as Quaid's flamboyant lawyer, steals several scenes.
Goodman and Beatty are good as always, Lisa Jane Persky is adorable and Grace Zabriskie has an awesome accent. You might think you've seen so many movies like this that you'll be bored by The Big Easy, but it's a smart and incredibly sexy movie that's high on replay value.
A lot of people complain about Quaid's accent, but it honestly didn't bother me. This movie is very unfairly overlooked.
