Review of The Big Easy (1986) by Jeff H — 12 Apr 2011
A suitably atmospheric film set in New Orleans, the sweat practically drips from the screen with both some steamy scenes between Quaid and Barkin and the New Orleans backdrop itself practically being a character in itself.
The plot itself, Barkin is an ADA investigating police corruption and Quaid is the morally dubious Detective whose not above bending the rules. Its the stuff that most RomComs are built on these days and the police corruption angle has been done to death but Quaid has rarely been better, and looked for a moment to be able to escape from the 'poor mans Harrison Ford tag' and Barkin has never been sexier. There is cracking support from Beatty and Goodman adding to a rich tapestry.
