Review of The Big Easy (1986) by Paul C — 01 Jan 2010
As with any eighties cop corruption movie, a pinch of salt or a tongue in cheek is necessary when viewing from the year two thousand and ten.
So with with that thought in mind, you will surely still enjoy Dennis Quaid and Ellen Barkin get through a very murky and unhappy plot.
It is impossible to not use hindsight to "critic" it but non the less the film will endear you to both characters and, well... watch and see...
Ellen Barkin is especially good as an eighties coming of age district attorney who falls in love with a playful but in-grained hard-arse young copper Dennis Quaid.
The ending is obviously typical yet the film distances itself from others of the time and genre by having a woman as the best act.
And it did so unwittingly.
Oscar to Quaid for best support!
