Review of The Big Country (1958) by Jim M — 06 Dec 2007
Gregory Peck moves out West and finds himself in the middle of a feud between his fiances family and there rivals (led by Burl Ives), he also incurs the emnity of Ives son played by Chuck Connors and a ranch foreman played by Charlton Heston.
Throughout Peck finds his own sense of morality, honor and manhood challenged by all around him. A great film. Peck, Heston and Ives are better then 90% of the pretty boys acting today. More importantly is the way the themes of honor, dignity and manhood are handled throughout.
Not to be missed.
