Review of The Big Clock (1948) by Allan C — 04 Jul 2015
Wonderfully suspenseful noir from director John Farrow. Ray Milland works for a magazine publisher and is charged with solving a murder that happened in the building as an exclusive story for the magazine, but finds all the clues are pointing to him.
Charles Laughton plays the villainous magazine owner who actually committed the murder, Maureen O'Sullivan plays Milland's wife and George Macready plays a fellow executive. Harry Morgan has a menacing supporting part in the film as does Elsa "Bride of Frankenstein" Lanchester, who was Laughton's real-life spouse as a batty artist.
This film was memorably remade as the Kevin Costner vehicle, "No Way Out.".
