Review of The Big Bounce (2004) by Paul P — 29 Jun 2008
A film with definite good and bad points.
As an adaptation of an Elmore Leonard story, it sucks..... In fact the whole story is just plain dumb, makes no sense and the crosses and double crosses that happen throughout the film are just weak.
In spite of this, I realy enjoyed this flick. Firstly, Hawiai is a character in itself. The film looks gorgeous no doubt about it. Then you have "Ma Sheen". He's very amusing in this essentially playing a very stupid henchman. Owen plays himself, he has a really easy going charm and I can't help but love the guy, even in something like this. Then you have Sara Foster... I can't really comment on her acting abilities, but what I can say is that she is uber hot.... Distractingly so...
For the cast involved, this is no ones finest hour, I get the feeling that the fact that the story was set in Hawiai will have been a huge influence on a majority of the cast taking this gig (and who wouldn't!). I bet Morgan took the gig just so he could wear that earring....
A very dumb story, played out by a game cast, this is very undemanding but incredibly easy on the eye (especially Sara Foster).
