Review of The Big Blue (1988) by Jeff G — 23 Sep 2008
Never heard of it? Go watch it. Brilliant imagery and great acting. Fun, romantic, sad, funny, everything you need. The fact that it is based around the very real Free Diving sport and dangers thereof just adds to its appeal.
And there's something about how these guys NEED to be in the water that is just serene and peaceful. Jean Reno is great as Enzo, and the scene at the beginning with their childhood versions captured them perfectly.
What great casting and directing.
