Review of The BFG (2016) by Eoin M — 05 Jul 2016
The BFG is a film about a girl who is taken by a giant to his land and they have adventures together. This movie was pretty good and shows that Spielberg still has it in him. The movie has that family friendly magic that a lot of his movies have but this one felt a bit lacking in some aspects.
The movies has great characters in Sophie and the BFG and have good, fun and funny on screen chemistry as well as they deliver great and heartfelt performances. The other giants who play the villains in the movie were done very well visually but their characters are simplistic and dumb to be anything more than passable movie villains for this type of story.
The movies plot is a simplistic but being a children movie that does make some sense and works with what they were telling. The beginning was a bit slow and at times took a while to pick up and the ending felt way to fast and a bit of an under whelming climax.
The movie visuals are absolutely stunning and give an awe aspect to the movie. Overall the movie is a fun and family friendly flick and most kids will love it. 3/5.
