Review of The BFG (2016) by Azarias D — 11 Jul 2016
The BFG, if I can sum it up in one word, it's average, NOT BAD, but average. Mark Rylance and Ruby Barnhil give great performances and the visuals are fantastic, (it's a Steven Spielberg movie, would you expect less?) but the films overall story especially in the second half felt very out of place.
After looking up the original book and finding out that the story was the same one in the film, I gave it a sympathy point for staying true to the book, that doesn't mean I like it more. The BFG to me personally, is the Avatar of 2016, The visuals are breathtaking and the acting is pretty good, but the story is average and brings the film down a bit.
