Review of The BFG (2016) by Jono M — 02 Aug 2016
I've heard people say that Spielberg might have lost his touch with The BFG, but that's probably a bit harsh. Even though the plot was a bit thinner and slower than I remember it being in the book, it was still an alright movie.
The big highlight was the giants. Mark Rylance did a great job as the very kind and likeable title character, and Jermaine Clements brought a lot of humour to Fleshlumpeater, the biggest and meanest of the other giants.
I wasn't huge on the kid actor who played Sophie, but it would've been tough at her age to act against mainly green screens. Save for a few funny moments, I think kids might find stretches of The BFG a bit boring and slow.
