Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Phillip J — 02 Jun 2007
An extremely good concept. Seeing the reactions of family and friends as men come back from war is a great subject and makes for very interesting character interaction. I think that if it was remade with the right people behind it, it could be an instense character drama.
I got a little annoyed by the cliches in this. I know it was the 40s and that they were still refining the art, but I had a hard time taking some of it seriously. I feel bad for saying this.
Watching a movie like this also makes you realize how much of a difference deep focus makes.
