Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Jonathan H — 14 May 2012
An important and heartbreaking film. Hasn't dated one minute in my opinion.
Funny thing, in high school I heard about it because I discovered "It's A Wonderful Life" lost the Best Picture Oscar to William Wyler's "The Best Years of Our Lives". I thought it must be one of those typical Oscar mistakes. Well, I rented the film some 15 years ago and even then I recognized how special of an achievement this film was and is and will continue to be.
Every American should see this film.
