Review of The Best of Me (2014) by Jasmine D — 15 Feb 2015
Guys - ***WARNING*** - ***GRAPHIC*** We saw this movie before and it was called The Notebook! This is essentially the same movie, except James Garner and Gena Rowlands are now only in their early 40's, and are still able to get-it-on (sans the handy nearby bed pan or nurse button).
Luke Bracey looks nothing like James Marsden - and the flashbacks and differences in their appearance interrupted me and my wife's suspension of disbelief - reminding us each time that the casting director needed to try a leeetle beet harder on this one!
My wife loves to ball like a baby at Nicholas Sparks movies, and I at least enjoyed ribbing her a little bit during watching it - but the flashback scenes, the rain-soaked actors, the angst, the reconciliation, the desire...ugh...It was an ok shot at repeating the same formula and gimmicks, but at the end of the movie, all I really felt like I got out of it was - really nothing. Add an even worse twist and title pun thrown at the very end and it all becomes a farcical journey.
Guys unless the time investment in watching this horrible chick flick rewards you with other benefits, ***STEER CLEAR***.
