Review of The Bellboy (1960) by Jacob F — 07 Dec 2008
A great introduction to Jerry Lewis' brand of comedy(or anti-comedy). It has the self-consciousness, playful use of on/off screen relationships in sound and image, absurd sight gags, pre-post-modern inter-textuality, and great use of the long shot.
While a few of the gags fall flat, its formally one of the more innovative and impressive comedies of its time.
