Review of The Believer (2001) by Caroline C — 14 Jan 2008
So the question is how it compares to American History X: the story and production is better, but Ryan Gosling didn't out-do Ed Norton in my mind. It seems better thought out, and not just a means to an end like American History X, which can seem like a cop out if not for Ed Norton's brilliant performance.
That's not to say Gosling isn't good, because he is very good. The visuals are more aesthetically pleasing and the story seems more expansive. It deals with different themes and does not offer an easy answer.
Did not disappoint like I expected.
