For a director that is more or less known for films that resonate with audiences, The Beguiled falls quite short of the bar set by Sofia Coppola's previous efforts. While, on the surface, the cast is set up for an intriguing development of events, the story ultimately drags between unmotivated story beats to progress an already thin plot.
