Review of The Beaver (2011) by Ollie W — 04 Dec 2011
It falls foul of over-direction and a disappointingly saccharine and unrealistic Hollywood ending, but beneath all the stupidity and laziness, there is an excellent and very dark idea about mid-life Depression and Mania here.
Though such an important and life defining subject matter deserves more than to be simply the backstory to this melodramatic family drama, even if Gibson's performance is brave, hilarious and convincing.
