Review of The Beaver (2011) by Joey S — 26 Feb 2017
A movie that makes less sense the more you think about it, The Beaver is a pretty good movie directed by Jodie Foster. With a concept as strange as a talking beaver puppet helping a man put his life back together, there is a certain expectation that the movie will be humorous to an extent, but the movie is more a drama than it is a comedy.
I think Jodie Foster wanted it be similar to Lars and the Real Girl, but it doesn't have the same charm or sweetness that that movie had. Still, I didn't dislike it as much as I thought I would, and, as much as I don't like him personally, Mel Gibson puts in a good performance.
It will hold your attention and it's pretty good, but don't expect to be blown away by this movie.
