Review of The Beaver (2011) by Hali L — 06 Apr 2012
This again proves that Mel is one of the best artists working today. You almost forget as you watch this that he is performing the part of the puppet. You almost lose Walter Black... and that was the point.
Brilliant job by Mel. Kudos also to Jodie Foster creating a deeply moving image of mental illness and the struggle to cope with it. Anton Yelchin also proves he a strong young talent. I am sad this film did not get more recognition.
Hopefully it will find life on DVD. If people feel they need to boycott Gibson's work due to his private life failings then they do so at a loss to themselves.
