Review of The Beaver (2011) by Darrin M — 28 Jun 2012
Saw this at a screening last night. I was ok with the first half of the film. A bit melodramatic but tolerable. But then the movie seemed to start over and hit the same story beats all over again, but elevated in tone this time around.
Not tolerable anymore. And when the Radiohead song kicked in, I literally said out loud "Really?!?" Some parts are fine, but too often the film doesn't know what it wants to be. And at one point it get's kinda dark, but I was too busy laughing at the ridiculousness of it.
Plus, it's kinda difficult to see past Mel Gibson and get to the character at this point.
