Review of The Beaver (2011) by Jeanette R — 06 Sep 2012
In this movie, Mel Gibson plays a semi-accurate portrayal of man suffering from depression. In order to cope with everyday life (work and family) he creates a separate persona. A puppet that is a beaver.
Although at times touching and humorous, The Beaver seems more a movie that wants to portray a picture of depression and less a movie the audience can empathize with. The dialogue is too contrived; thereby creating more than just a lack of good acting.
With a better script this movie might have gotten 4 stars from me.
