Review of The Beaver (2011) by Gerald D — 06 Dec 2012
Forget about Mel's legal troubles. This was a very well done movie about a man dealing with depression and how he used a Beaver puppet (with an Auzzie accent) to express himself. It was uncomfortable funny.
Then it got a little disturbing. But the movie was rooted in amazing performances from the family as they tried to deal with the man's depression. Jodie Foster and Anton Yelchin really showed some great wrok.
And it was nice to see the side story romance between the son (with issues of his own) and young Jennifer Hudson. Only thing that seemed off was how the world seemed to embrace the puppet. Another great SXSW film.
