Review of The Beat Beneath My Feet (2014) by Cody C — 26 Oct 2016
The Beat Beneath My Feet stars Luke Perry (Steve) and Nicholas Galitzine (Tom). As with any movie centering on music, I always go into them with high expectations for the music. This film ABSOLUTELY delivers on this, especially if you're a fan of more British Indie-style rock.
Nicholas Galitzine impressed me so much with his display of vocals that I had to look up and see if it was actually he performing these songs. It was. If Galitzine doesn't make it in the film industry I could definitely see his name popping up in the music industry in the near future.
I also was surprised to learn that this is the directorial debut of John Williams, who directed various Coldplay and Radiohead music videos. For this being his first time in the director's seat of a full-length feature film, Williams certainly hit his stride.
I was impressed by the way he could capture every moment in this story and make you feel for the characters. Despite the dialogue being cheesy at times, the actors gave strong performances, especially from Luke Perry.
All in all, The Beat Beneath my Feet is a hidden gem and I definitely recommend giving it a chance.
