Review of The Beach (2000) by Kyle A — 26 Jan 2014
"The Beach" has some faults: a few ramance cliches here & there, a third act that goes from homage to almost ripping off, and a song or two that has not aged well. With that being said, I enjoyed the crap out of "The Beach". The ride Danny Boyle concocts is exhilarating because it's difficult to know where it's going next, and at which pace it will take you there. There's also some amazing sequences from a technical point of view, the best being a video game-infused prance around the woods with Leonardo DiCaprio, who overdoes it a tad at times. "The Beach" is not perfect, but like Boyle's other works, is sure to blast your endorphins for two hours.
"The Beach" is Arpke Approved at 4 out of 5 stars.
