Review of The Beach (2000) by John B — 27 Dec 2016

Visually, The Beach is impressive, stunning and interestingly shot, which makes for an overall gorgeous film. The script is less impressive; it isn't too focused and it makes a weird turn about two-thirds in that throws the entire rest of the film off, especially when it tries to slip back to where it was.

On the whole, however, if you can forgive it's problems (and that definitely isn't a sure bet), the experience works - just very much due to the visuals.
